Melissa Banczak has lived all over the country, thanks to her (now retired) military spouse. After seven winters in North Dakota, she was promised warmer climates. Tucson, Arizona led to Key West, Florida which led to Northern Wisconsin. While she did realize it was the wrong direction, the excitement of living near family distracted her from the fact that it gets blasted cold there. In a previous life, she spent a decade as a filmmaker. Though she loved the writing, she hated the execution and got rid of a garage full of equipment and props, tossed her screenwriting program and bought a copy of scrivener.*An unexpected encounter with her daughter’s nine foot boa, who was casually hanging from the bathroom light, led to the idea for the first book in her June Nash series, How to Sex Your Snake. A year caring for her husband’s excessive snake collection, while he was overseas, gave her the idea for June. When she’s not writing, she and her husband train for half marathons and work as bartenders at her sister-in-laws golf course.
